Log4j vulnerability response for banks: ‘This is not a quick process’

The process of examining ones own exposure to the Log4j vulnerability is methodical and slow, said a panel of security leaders that spoke during the SC Finance eConference, only days after the world learned of the pervasive threat to systems.

First to speak on the topic in the discussion is Ron Banks, chief information officer at Texas Capital Bank, followed and Christine Herman, chief technology and security officer at Finance of America and Jacob Berry of Cybereason, each of which dissect the implications for the financial services sector. Remediation efforts will take time, Banks said, calling it "not a quick process."

And yet, the speed at which organizations respond will directly impact the longer term ramifications, Herman noted.

"To the surprise of no one, the slower you move the more flat footed you are," she said.
