We found this product to be quite easy to deploy and manage. The initial setup is guided by a short wizard and gets the appliance up and running with a basic configuration. After the wizard is complete, all further management is done through the web-based management GUI. We found this GUI to be intuitive and easy to use with many configurable options available. On the user side, we found the web-based SSL portal to be just as intuitive with a clean and organized layout.
This tool offers a lot of flexibility and many configuration options. We found it to be very wizard-driven, which made setting up access to resources quick and easy, especially with many predefined resource templates ready to go. Policies and resource access also are easy to manage as this solution can pull directly from Active Directory to leverage the already existing users and groups.
Documentation included a short quick-start guide that provided a few simple steps to get the appliance connected to the network and for getting access to the initial setup wizard. Also provided was a full PDF administrator guide. This provided in-depth configuration information with detailed step-by-step instructions and many screen shots.
WatchGuard offers various levels of support through its paid LiveSecurity service. All levels offer 24/7 phone-based technical support, while some levels offer unlimited number of incidents and specific account managers and quarterly reviews. Customers also can find web-based support in the form of a knowledge base and a documentation section, as well as update downloads.
At a price of $9,150, we find this product to be an excellent value for the money. The WatchGuard SSL VPN offers a great amount of features and functionality, as well as client flexibility at a very reasonable price.
