Shhh….the NSA is up to something

According to this Baltimore Sun story, the top-secret National Security Agency is working on a highly classified project to protect government and corporate networks from cybercrime mayhem.

Of course, the fact that the NSA is only in the planning stages of this is a bit startling, considering cyberterrorists have been honing their craft for a number of years.

But it is nice to know the government is at least preparing for the prospect of a digital Pearl Harbor - or something like that - should it ever reach the network walls of the United States.

Some are worried, though, that two years removed from the domestic eavesdrop program announcement, this will give the NSA even more freedom to poke around in private places.

For this plan to succeed, Americans should not feel their liberties are being violated in any way. I understand the blueprints are classified, but good old-fashioned policy and technology implementation, information sharing and execution should enable the U.S. to stave off digital warfare.
