Ninety per cent of mobile devices have no IT security

Businesspeople are `going wireless' with their email andallied communications, but most are not taking appropriate precautions to ensure they're working in a secure environment.

According to research from the Gartner Group, around 90 per cent of mobile devices lack the necessary security to prevent hackers from gaining access.

Announcing the research at the recent Gartner Wireless & Mobile Summit in Chicago, analysts said executives losing their mobile devices presented the biggest security risk.

John Girand, the firm's research vice president, said that wireless

mobility is the greatest change to occur in corporate data collection

and distribution in the past decade.

"However, with this change comes new threats. The solution for

enterprises is to institute sound management policies to protect

mobile information assets and contain costs," he told delegates.
