Lessons combating COVID-19 healthcare security challenges

Long at the forefront of protecting sensitive information from cyberattacks, health care organizations had to pivot quickly to ensure as the COVID-19 pandemic imposed new threats on a vulnerable newly remote workforce.

And adapt they did, even as bad actors exploited a fragile, fragmented infrastructure suddenly reliant on telehealth visits. The lessons learned from the health care industry during these trying times stand to benefit many industries.

An experienced panel of frontline healthcare security professionals will share how the industry was able to adapt during a Sept. 17 RiskSec DIGITAL 2020 session, Extreme Conditions: Healthcare’s Cybersecurity Lessons for the Rest of Us.  Erik Decker, the University of Chicago Medicine’s chief information security and privacy officer ; Timothy Torres, Sr., deputy CISO at Sutter Health; and Errol Weiss, CSO of H-ISAC promise to provide attendees with actionable tips on the lessons learned from the pandemic.

Todd Fitzgerald, executive in residence and chairman of the executive committee at the Cybersecurity Collaborative will moderate the panel.
