A Battle Royale is developing around the Fortnite game Battle Royale with the news that the game's maker, Epic Games, is suing a 14-year-old player for buying and using cheat codes that the company claims cost it money.
This in turn caused the player's mother to file a counter claim with North Carolina's Eastern District Court saying the company cannot prove the allegation, according to an Engadget report. In the mother's letter to the court, linked to by Engadget, she also expresses her anger that the company released her child's name, which she said is illegal citing a Delaware law.
The mother's final point is that her son could not have legally signed any agreement with Epic as he is a minor and that the company failed to legally bind any underage player in its End User Licensing Agreement and that she did not give her son permission to enter into any agreement with the company.
One point against the player, according to TorrentFreak, is the child did stream himself playing the game on YouTube while claiming that he was using the cheats, called aim-bots, he had purchased. The cheats were allegedly purchased from a public site.
