Investigations involving two Israeli teenagers suspected of creating software that resulted in $1.65 million in damages are concluding in several countries.
Yarden Bidani and Itay Huri are poised to stand trial for allegedly operating vDOS, a booter service that assists paying customers in conducting distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, according to KrebsonSecurity.
Following a story published on KrebsonSecurity in September, the duo was arrested by Israeli police, placed on house arrest, and were prohibited from using the internet for a month. Now, Bidani and Huri face computer fraud and extortion charges.
Israeli prosecutors are being urged by both the United States and Swedish governments to pursue formal charges against the teens.
While running the vDOS service, Bidani and Huri netted more than $600,000 in just two years.
