Game of Thrones hacker and dam hacker make FBI most wanted cybercriminals list

The threat actor who hacked and held unaired Game of Thrones episodes for ransom is landed himself a spot on the FBI's 41 most-wanted cybercriminals list with the likes of the dam hacker and several other state-sponsored actors.

In August 2017 Iran-based hacker Behzad Mesri broke into HBO networks and obtained 1.5 TB of data including unaired episodes of Game of Thrones, Ballers, and Room 104 and threatened to leak the data if they weren't paid $6 million worth of Bitcoin.

Hamid Firoozi, the former network manager at ITSecTeam, also made the list after allegedly hacking into the systems of the Bowman Dam in Rye, New York using the 'Google dorking' technique to find vulnerabilities. This was possibly the wrong target as the Rye Brook mayor theorized the attacker may have meant to target the much larger Bowman Dam in Oregon.

The list is also shared with credit card scammers, digital bank robbers, and several state-backed hackers including a man wanted for stealing rocket software.
