Computer hard drive goes missing from New Mexico State University arena

An encrypted external hard drive, containing personal information of an undisclosed number of current and former New Mexico State University (NMSU) employees, was stolen from the Pan American Center in Las Cruces.

What kind of personal information? Names and Social Security numbers of every employee hired by the NMSU Special Events Department since 1999.

What was the response? The university plans to alert victims.

Details: School officials said it is "highly improbable" any of the data can be accessed from the hard drive, stolen sometime between Dec. 30 and Jan. 2.
