Check Point Software Technologies was granted two U.S. patents for technologies that provide endpoint security.
One patent, issued March 29, is for a technology that protects corporate networks from viruses and other threats by requiring PCs and other remote devices to have updated antivirus software before they are allowed to connect to critical resources.
The other patent, issued Feb. 1, involves processes that ensure only trusted programs communicate over the internet. The technology, which will apply to products from both Check Point and its Zone Labs consumer business, prevents viruses and other malware from conducting outbound communications.
