Authorities had OK to use Broidy’s hands, face to unlock phones confiscated in raid

Federal agents raiding the offices of former Republican National Committee (RNC) Deputy Finance Chair Elliot Broidy last year looking for details on his dealings with a number of people, including “Trump administration associates,” were authorized to use the fundraiser’s hands and face to unlock phones whose contents were protected by fingerprints or facial scans, a search warrant reportedly showed.

Broidy, who was vice chairman of finance for the 2016 Trump campaign, resigned from the RNC position he once shared with former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and casino owner Steve Wynn, after it was revealed he paid off a Playboy model to keep mum about her years-earlier affair with the president at the behest of Cohen.

The sealed search warrant obtained by ProPublica showed that investigators were looking into money laundering, conspiracy and lobbying on behalf of foreign entities.
