A new, cutting-edge forensic evidence center in Toronto is protected by technology as advanced as scientists apply to their work inside its labs.
The City of Toronto Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex, a provincially run facility located in Downsview, contains state-of-the-art autopsy rooms, an advanced ballistics lab and an isolation area to examine evidence of potential biological hazards. In addition to the standard perimeter controls and video cameras, the building's security system includes an integrated, network-based grid that features biometric access control.
Designed by Genetec, the system uses open architecture and can be controlled, monitored and analyzed remotely using a smartphone app.
