Sean Ervin is an accomplished information technology and cybersecurity leader with more than 18 years of experience spanning higher education, government, and private sector environments. He currently serves as the Information Security Manager at Coastal Carolina University, where he leads cybersecurity, identity and access management, Microsoft 365 administration, compliance initiatives, risk management, disaster recovery planning, and security awareness programs.
At Coastal Carolina University, Sean oversees enterprise security operations. He serves as the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) and plays a key role in regulatory compliance efforts, including GLBA, PCI, CJIS, and institutional risk assessments. He also provides leadership in technology governance, procurement reviews, emergency planning, change management, and strategic technology initiatives.
Prior to joining Coastal Carolina University, Sean served as Application and Security Manager for the City of Myrtle Beach, where he managed infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and the City’s ERP modernization project. He is an active member of FBI InfraGard, serves as a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Cyber Liaison, participates in university governance as a Staff Senator, and is committed to mentoring future technology professionals and advancing cybersecurity resilience within the organizations and communities he serves.
