Afonso Alves is a Senior Security Solution Engineer at CAS Severn and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with extensive leadership in enterprise cybersecurity, governance, and infrastructure modernization.

Previously serving as the IT Manager of Cybersecurity Services at Hampton Roads Transit, Afonso has directed enterprise security architectures, incident response, and regulatory compliance programs across public and private sector environments. His technical leadership spans Zero Trust architectures, advanced endpoint protection, network defense, and alignment with federal and industry security frameworks, including NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-207, and FIPS 140-3 cryptographic standards.

In addition to enterprise solution engineering, Afonso has served as a Lead Cybersecurity Instructor and Master Adjunct Teacher, training future security professionals and bridging technical execution with workforce development. He holds a Master’s degree in Education Methodology from the Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT) and has completed advanced graduate coursework in Cybersecurity at Old Dominion University.
