White House proposes $105M budget to create new digital agencies

Share

As part of the 2016 fiscal budget, which totals $4 trillion in overall spending, President Obama has asked that $105 million be allocated toward creating digital service teams for its 25 largest federal agencies.

The idea for the new digital strike force is modeled after the creation of the U.S. Digital Service team, a collective led by former Google executive Mikey Dickerson that helped quell many of the issues surrounding HealthCare.gov during its rollout, according to a report by The Hill.

While a majority of the budget is aimed at creating the new digital arms for the agencies, a portion will also help bolster the Digital Service team so that it may better assist and monitor the agencies when it comes to their tech services, as well as aid them with any cybersecurity issues that may arise.
