Updoc data breach exposes customer contact information

As reported by The Cyber Express, telehealth provider Updoc has confirmed a data breach that may have exposed customer contact information due to an incident involving a third-party system. The breach, disclosed on August 7, has reignited concerns about cybersecurity within Australia's healthcare sector.

The incident at Updoc, an Australian telehealth service, was detected on July 31 and involved unauthorized access to an external system used for operational support. While Updoc stated that its internal systems and sensitive data such as medical records, financial information, or payment details were not compromised, customer contact information, including names, email addresses, and postal addresses, may have been accessed. The company has stated that customers are not required to take immediate action.

This breach is the latest in a series of cybersecurity incidents affecting Australian healthcare organizations, including a previous attack on Partnered Health that exposed patient medical records and personal information.
