The University of Central Florida (UCF) has made itself a standout in cyber security after recently winning a national cyber defense competition in which they competed against other prominent collegiate programs.

The 2014 Raytheon National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (NCCDC) was held from April 25 to 27 in San Antonio, Texas, and challenges participants - which included the top 10 college teams in the country - to detect and respond to threats on hardware and software, while maintaining existing services.

After keeping the mock business operations running the longest while under a cyber attack, UCF took home the big prize, according to a release by event organizers, Raytheon.

In all, more than 180 colleges and universities, as well as 2,000 students, participated in events that lead to the national championship this past weekend.
