Two Cambodian hackers arrested after attack on gov’t website

Two Cambodian hackers, who are allegedly associated with an Anonymous offshoot, were arrested earlier this week on charges of committing an “information technology offense.”

Keo Sipheng and Hok Ratana, 26, allegedly accessed and disabled the country's Anti-Corruption Unit's web server, according to a regional newspaper. The Anti-Corruption Unit posts documents and reports for media outlets to use.

The men reportedly helped design and maintain the organization's website.

A separate newspaper, The Cambodia Daily, reported that shortly after their arrests, the hackers admitted to accessing the unit's website “for fun,” but were unable to get control of its database. They are both students at a technology university in Cambodia.

Two other men, who are also associated with Anonymous Cambodia, were arrested in April for similar charges.
