A court in Ankara, Turkey on Wednesday overturned the government's ban on Twitter, according to a report by The New York Times.
Last Friday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan blocked the social media service after government critics used the platform to share phone recordings that exposed government corruption.
After Wednesday's ruling, the telecommunications authority in Turkey is ordered to restore Twitter access, although the brief restriction was bypassed by many users who opted to reach the service through alternative channels.
The telecom authority does have the right to appeal the ruling and based on a statement from the Justice Ministry, there may be a delay since it has 30 days to obey the order.
On Wednesday, Twitter announced that after working with its Turkish attorney, it has filed lawsuits at various Turkish courts challenging the access ban.
