Toll of TriZetto breach surpasses 3M

More than 3.4 million individuals were reported by health insurance tech provider TriZetto Provider Solutions, a subsidiary of Cognizant, to have had their sensitive data stolen following a 2024 breach, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.

TriZetto's updated breach disclosure to Oregon's Justice Department comes after the firm issued filings with regulators across the U.S., with Texas and South Carolina noting that the incident had impacted 171,158 people and 3,562 individuals, respectively. Multiple Oregon county governments revealed in late January that over 700,000 individuals' personal details, including addresses, Social Security numbers, and health insurance numbers, were compromised as a result of the TriZetto hack in November 2024. Impact from the breach has also been confirmed by private healthcare providers in Oklahoma and other states.

Such a development comes months after U.S. multinational bleach manufacturer Clorox filed legal action against Cognizant over a 2023 breach that led to millions of dollars in losses.
