As outlined in CRN, ThreatLocker CEO Danny Jenkins has strongly refuted the notion that artificial intelligence (AI) can effectively defend against AI-powered cyberattacks, calling the concept "complete garbage."Jenkins, speaking on CRN's new video series "Security or Else!," argued that the cybersecurity industry's focus on "fighting AI with AI" is a flawed approach. While acknowledging AI's utility in speeding up investigations and identifying unusual activity, he emphasized its limitations, particularly in distinguishing malicious intent from legitimate behavior. Jenkins stated that AI can only analyze behavior, not intent, making it difficult to differentiate between beneficial tools like backup software and malicious ones like data exfiltration tools, as their behaviors can be identical. He cautioned managed service providers (MSPs) against overspending on AI-driven security tools that may not offer significant improvements over existing solutions.Instead, Jenkins advocated for doubling down on fundamental security controls such as zero trust architecture and deny-by-default policies as the most effective defense against the growing wave of AI-powered threats.Source: CRN
