Telenor urges Nordic unity on cyber resilience

Telenor's latest Nordic security report warns that the region's resilience is increasingly tested by hybrid threats, growing interdependence of critical services, and cross-border risks, reports The Fast Mode.

The assessment, which calls for joint government-industry action, urges the Nordics to treat resilience as a shared regional priority amid rising cyberattacks, sabotage, disinformation, and digital financial crime.

"A crisis can start anywhere and spread everywhere," said Telenor Group CEO Benedicte Schilbred Fasmer, stressing that collaboration and robust digital infrastructure must extend beyond national borders. The report identifies destructive cyberattacks, infrastructure sabotage, and foreign influence as key threats, while also citing data sovereignty, climate-related disruptions, and the vulnerability of subsea cables as emerging concerns.

Sigvart Voss Eriksen, Telenor EVP and Head of Nordics, said true resilience "requires long-term investment, preparedness, and coordination."

The report calls for harmonised frameworks, shared intelligence, and joint crisis exercises to meet NATO-aligned resilience goals and protect critical Nordic infrastructure.
