Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, LG, and other leading tech firms had sensitive manufacturing and R&D data purportedly stolen from Chinese electronic components manufacturer Luxshare, which was threatened to be leaked by the RansomHub ransomware-as-a-service operation, reports Cybernews.

In a post on its leak site, RansomHub claimed to breach Luxshare, which assembles Apple's iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch products, on Dec. 15, enabling the theft of data archives containing confidential 3D CAD product models, 3D engineering documentation, 3D engineering design data, Parasolid files, 2D CAD drawings, mechanical component drawings, confidential engineering drawings, electrical and layout architecture data, electronic design documentation, and printed circuit board manufacturing data.

Analysis of the provided data sample revealed device repair and shipping projects involving Apple and Luxshare, as well as the personally identifiable information of people part of the projects between 2019 and 2025. While the breach is yet to be confirmed, such data exposure could lead to counterfeit manufacturing and the discovery of vulnerabilities that could be leveraged in supply chain intrusions.
