Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai broke his silence in addressing the cyber attack on his company at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Thanking Sony workers and partners for their working during the controversy, Hirai described the incident as “one of the most vicious and malicious” cyber attacks “in recent history,” according to CNNMoney.
“I have to say that I am very proud of all the employees, and certainly the partners that we work with as well, who stood up against some of the extortionist efforts of the criminals,” he said.
Following an investigation into the hack, the FBI concluded in December that the North Korean government was behind the attack, recently prompted President Obama to issue a formal U.S. response regarding the incident, in addition to signing an Executive Order which places sanctions on North Korea.
