Securonix taps former BofA exec for chief scientist role

Security intelligence firm Securonix has appointed Igor Baikalov as its chief scientist, charging him with leading the company's research and analytics division.

Baikalov, who previously served as senior vice president of global information security at Bank of America, was named to the post last Wednesday. With more than 25 years of experience in the security arena, he will help the Los Angeles firm develop its signature-less threat detection capabilities “through the application of machine learning and statistical anomaly detection techniques,” a release from the company said.

Tanuj Gulati, CTO of Securonix, said that Baikalov “brings several years of experience studying the DNA of advanced attacks and implementing solutions at scale.”

In his previous Bank of America role, Baikalov focused on the development of predictive analytics solutions, as well as offerings for data protection and risk-based access governance.
