Record-shattering Aisuru botnet attack averted

BleepingComputer reports that Cloudflare has disrupted the Aisuru botnet's record-breaking hyper-volumetric distributed denial-of-service attack last quarter that peaked at 29.7 Tbps.

UDP carpet-bombing has been leveraged by Aisuru to channel malicious traffic as part of the 69-second attack against an unnamed target, according to Cloudflare. Aisuru's hyper-volumetric DDoS intrusions have also been on an upward trend as the botnet targets gaming, telecommunications, and financial services organizations, as well as hosting providers.

"If Aisuru's attack traffic can disrupt parts of the US' Internet infrastructure when said ISPs were not even the target of the attack, imagine what it can do when it's directly aimed at unprotected or insufficiently protected ISPs, critical infrastructure, healthcare services, emergency services, and military systems," said Cloudflare.

Additional findings revealed that DDoS attacks during the first 10 months of 2025 have significantly outpaced total intrusions over the past two years.
