Cybernews reports that the Augusta Housing Authority, the second-largest public housing authority in Georgia, was allegedly compromised by the Qilin ransomware operation, which provided four data samples purportedly pilfered from the municipal agency's systems while announcing the breaches of seven other small businesses.Analysis of the data samples revealed AHA's correspondence with an accounting firm regarding its annual tax returns, a utility reimbursement report from December 2025 with sensitive recipient information, an expense sheet from 2023, and a spreadsheet detailing an employee's medical benefits payroll deductions, according to Cybernews researchers. AHA, which has yet to acknowledge Qilin's claims, was discovered to have announced ongoing efforts to restore its website's functionality amid access issues.Such a development comes as Qilin is poised to remain the most active ransomware gang this year, having claimed 150 victims during the first six weeks of 2026 alone. Most recently impacted by Qilin were Oklahoma's Tulsa International Airport, Italian diving equipment maker Cressi, and luxury faucet manufacturer Moen.
