President Trump ‘would be a disaster for innovation,’ say Silicon Valley leaders

A group of 150 Silicon Valley tech sector leaders released a statement on Thursday expressing dismay at the possibility of Donald Trump becoming president.

In an open letter, the signatories opine that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee would block innovation and the immigrant workforce necessary to fuel America's tech sector.

Pointing out that 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants, the letter stated: "We believe in an inclusive country that fosters opportunity, creativity and a level playing field. Donald Trump does not."

The letter also warned of Trump's security strategies, claiming "both poor judgment and ignorance about how technology works."

The letter writers also called out Trump's "reckless disregard" of legal and political enterprises as a threat to investment in American infrastructure, education and scientific research.

"We stand against Donald Trump's divisive candidacy and want a candidate who embraces the ideals that built America's technology industry," the letter concluded.
