Play ransomware alleges ADC Aerospace compromise

Ransomware

Cybernews reports that major U.S. turnkey manufacturer for defense and aerospace ADC Aerospace was claimed to have had its data stolen by the Play ransomware gang. Despite allegedly pilfering ADC Aerospace's client files, budget and financial details, identification documents, payroll records, and private and personal confidential data, Play did not include any data samples on its dark web blog post. ADC Aerospace has not yet acknowledged Play's assertions but if confirmed, the exfiltrated data could be leveraged for corporate espionage, identity theft, and social engineering intrusions, according to Cybernews researchers. Such a development comes months after Play, which became among the leading ransomware cartels last year, claimed targeting military and commercial aircraft industrial parts supplier Jamco Aerospace, which caters to Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and the U.S. Navy. The ransomware operation, which was noted to be among the pioneers of intermittent encryption, also targeted Rackspace, BMW France, and H-Hotels.
