Persistent attacks pledged by LockBit leader even after takedown

Alleged LockBit ransomware gang leader LockBitSupp has declared that cyberattacks against companies would continue even after the disruption of the ransomware group as part of an international law enforcement operation last month, noting that retirement would only be possible after compromising a million organizations, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.

While LockBit had its tools, dashboards, and future variants seized in the operation, law enforcement was not able to dismantle the ransomware gang's entire infrastructure, claimed LockBitSupp in an interview with the Click Here podcast. Most LockBit ransomware partners were also noted by LockBitSupp to have committed to continue cooperating with the ransomware gang despite the takedown. "Look, the FBI is not omnipotent; they just found a weak spot and struck. The battle was lost, but the war hasn't been. I will continue to work as long as my heart beats," LockBitSupp said.
