Palo Alto Networks has announced plans to acquire identity security specialist CyberArk in a $25 billion deal, a move aimed at strengthening its footprint in the expanding identity and access management market, which analysts forecast will reach $35 billion by 2029, reports TechCircle.
The acquisition underscores how identity protection is becoming increasingly vital as enterprises adopt AI agents, digital assistants, and other automated tools that create new attack vectors.
"Identity is no longer limited to just human users," said Huzefa Motiwala, senior director of technical solutions for PANW in India and SAARC, noting that bots, LLMs, and other non-human entities also require privilege management and monitoring.
By integrating CyberArk into its detection and response platform, PANW plans to deliver what it calls "security by design," embedding protections across the AI lifecycle from development to deployment.
According to the company's State of Cybersecurity 2024 report, 58% of Indian organizations already use AI extensively, particularly for code generation and optimization.
