Norway accuses Salt Typhoon of espionage attacks

China Bans Cyber Attacks: Examining Internet Security with Chinese Flag and Binary Data Through a Magnifying Glass Concept

As reported by TechCrunch, the Norwegian government has publicly accused the Chinese-backed hacking group known as Salt Typhoon of breaching several organizations within the country and engaging in espionage activities.

According to a report released by the Norwegian Police Security Service on Friday, Salt Typhoon, believed to be operating on behalf of the Chinese government, exploited vulnerable network devices to infiltrate organizations. This marks Norway as the latest nation to report intrusions linked to Salt Typhoon, a group previously described by U.S. national security officials as an "epoch-defining threat."

The group has a history of stealthily targeting critical infrastructure worldwide, including telecommunications providers in Canada and the United States, where they allegedly intercepted communications of senior politicians. These persistent breaches by Salt Typhoon have intensified pressure on telecommunications companies to bolster their network security measures.
