Missouri-based media firm News-Press & Gazette Company was claimed to have been breached by the Termite ransomware operation, Cybernews reports.Additional details about the extent of the hack were not provided but Termite alleged stealing NPG's financial and tax data, revenue reports, Excel files with budgets, employment details, passport photos, and other corporate files.Cybernews researchers who analyzed the data sample posted by Termite on its leak site noted the exposure of personal and corporate information, including the passport of NPG's owner, as well as various employees' contact details and home addresses.Aside from significantly increasing the odds of targeted phishing, fraud, and identity theft attacks against NPG executives and employees, information from the purported breach also exposes the organization's secrets to its competitors, said researchers. At least 23 organizations, including U.S. supply chain management platform Blue Yonder, have already been impacted by the Termite gang during the past year, according to Cybernews' Ransomlooker tool.
