As outlined in Defensescoop, the Department of the Navy is facing a coordinated, multi-domain campaign by adversaries targeting service members, civilians, and military installations. Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao issued a warning to the force, emphasizing the evolving threat landscape and the deliberate efforts by hostile actors to gather intelligence, test defenses, and disrupt operations. The campaign includes direct threats and harassment via social media, doxing, drone activity near Navy assets, ground-level surveillance, physical attacks, and probes of security measures. Adversaries are demonstrating a willingness to move from threats to direct action, with incidents like attempted physical attacks on access control points and coordinated initiatives designed to test security responses. Drone surveillance of warships and critical infrastructure highlights increasing adversary capabilities.Service members and civilians are urged to harden their online security by reviewing and privatizing social media accounts, removing identifying information, and being vigilant against phishing attempts and imposter accounts. Personnel should also report suspicious activities such as being followed or photographed off-installation, and unusual interest in military movements or base operations. The Navy encourages reporting through appropriate channels, including NCIS, base security, and local law enforcement.Source: Defensescoop
