Kansas-based Baker University has announced that 53,624 people had their data compromised following a network breach last December, according to BleepingComputer.
Attackers who infiltrated Baker University's systems between Dec. 2 and 19 were able to exfiltrate individuals' names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, student identification numbers, tax identification numbers, financial account details, medical information, health insurance information, and passport details, said the university in a notice on its website that was also filed with the Office of the Maine Attorney General.
More details regarding the nature and perpetrator of the incident were not provided but the university, which has already offered free credit monitoring services to impacted individuals, noted that there has been no indication of any misuse of the stolen information.
Baker University's disclosure comes after Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania were reported to have been compromised in Clop ransomware's widespread Oracle E-Business Suite hack. Harvard, Penn, and Princeton University had also been subjected to voice phishing intrusions since late October.
