Texas-based VeraBank and Delaware-based Artisans' Bank have confirmed the cumulative exposure of data from nearly 70,000 individuals following an August ransomware attack against their third-party digital marketing and customer relationship manager provider Marquis Software Solutions, which caters to more than 700 U.S. banks, Cybernews reports.
Information from 37,318 VeraBank clients, including their names and other personal details, had been compromised as a result of the intrusion, which did not affect the bank's other systems. On the other hand, Artisans' Bank reported that 32,344 customers had their names and Social Security numbers exfiltrated due to the attack.
Such disclosures come a month after Maine-based Norway Savings Bank reported being compromised by the Marquis hack, resulting in the exposure of data from 51,000 clients, including their names, birthdates, SSNs, addresses, tax ID numbers, and financial information.
