Microsoft Teams to enhance security with new call reporting feature

As reported by Bleeping Computer, Microsoft is set to introduce a new "Report a Call" feature in Microsoft Teams by mid-March. This functionality aims to empower users to identify and report suspicious or unwanted calls, categorizing them as potential scams or phishing attempts.

The "Report a Call" feature will be enabled by default, allowing users to flag calls directly from their call history on Windows, Mac, and web clients. Upon selecting "More options" and then "Report a Call," limited metadata, including timestamps, duration, caller ID, and participant Teams IDs, will be shared with the organization and Microsoft. This data will be accessible in the Microsoft Defender portal for users with Defender for Office 365 or Defender XDR licenses, or in the Teams Admin Center for those without. This initiative follows previous security updates, such as the ability to report false-positive message alerts and the option for admins to block external users to prevent social engineering attacks.

The feature rollout will start with Targeted Release customers in mid-March and will reach general availability by late April.
