Lynx ransomware claims Rose Acre Farms breach

Cybernews reports that major U.S. egg producer Rose Acre Farms had its systems purportedly compromised by the Lynx ransomware operation in an attack last week.

Infiltration of Rose Acre Farms' networks has allowed the encryption of the leading agricultural firm's data, according to Lynx ransomware, which noted that it will be providing proof of the pilfered information at a later date.

While Rose Acre Farms has not yet acknowledged Lynx ransomware's assertions, organizations in the food and agriculture sector were regarded by Cybernews researchers to be particularly vulnerable to ransomware intrusions, particularly in the absence of any data backups.

"Such attacks can cause financial losses for the victim, and in this case, may also cause market fluctuations due to decreased supply. Which, in turn, may affect product availability and pricing to end users," said Cybernews researchers, who also noted the significant disruptions to the U.S. meat supply chain following the attack on leading meat processor JBS four years ago.
