LevelBlue boosts XDR, MDR with Cybereason deal

LevelBlue has announced an agreement to acquire Cybereason, combining two major cybersecurity players to expand global managed security services and strengthen detection and response capabilities, reports Security Brief Australia.

Backed by investments from SoftBank, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital, the acquisition will merge LevelBlue's AI-driven managed detection and response offerings with Cybereason's expertise in extended detection and response, threat intelligence, and digital forensics.

"This is a strategic leap forward in delivering unified, proactive protection," said LevelBlue CEO Bob McCullen. The deal will also bring former U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin onto LevelBlue's board to help steer growth and resilience initiatives.

Both firms said the merger would accelerate threat detection, shorten response times, and improve organizational resilience, especially for enterprise clients. The combined platform, also integrating earlier acquisitions like Trustwave and Stroz Friedberg, will offer expanded forensics, endpoint protection, and cross-platform threat visibility across global markets, including Japan.
