KFC Japan faces delivery disruptions due to third-party cyberattack

KFC

KFC Japan is experiencing nationwide delivery disruptions impacting its restaurants due to a cyberattack on one of its third-party logistics providers. This incident raises concerns about potential product shortages, reduced operating hours, and temporary store closures across the country, as reported by Cyber Insider.

The cyberattack, which occurred on July 13, 2026, targeted the systems of an unnamed logistics company responsible for delivering ingredients to KFC's numerous Japanese locations. The unauthorized intrusion led to a system failure, halting deliveries from July 14 onwards. As a result, all KFC restaurants in Japan could face issues such as out-of-stock items, limited availability, shortened hours, or even temporary closures.

KFC Japan has also suspended all online ordering services, including its app and website, as well as third-party delivery integrations, with no estimated time for their restoration. The nature of the attack and whether customer data was compromised remain undisclosed.
