A U.S. drone strike on December 10 near Raqqah, Syria, killed Siful Haque Sujan, one of the Islamic State's (ISIS) leading hackers, according to a release from U.S. Central Command.
Sujan, a Bangladeshi educated as a computer systems engineer in the U.K., led the militant group's hacking initiative, and bolstered ISIS's anti-surveillance technology and weapons development.
Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren said in a release, “Now that he's dead, ISIL has lost a key link between networks,”
A series of air strikes conducted between December 7-27 in Syria and Iraq took out a number of ISIS leaders, including some believed to have provided external support for the November 13 Paris terror attacks.
