Identity theft was the most common complaint fielded last year by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the agency announced Thursday. ID theft topped the list for the ninth year in a row and was responsible for 26 percent of the 1.2 million complaints received by the FTC in 2008. Credit card fraud was the most common type of ID theft, totalling 20 percent of all reported cases. — DK
