The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee gave the go-ahead to the Federal Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2015 that would speed civilian agencies' adoption of the Department of Homeland Security's EINSTEIN program.
EINSTEIN is the DHS intrusion and detection program that detected the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) breach. The House made a similar attempt to shore up cybersecurity with House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, introducing the Cyber Defense of Federal Networks Act of 2015, aimed at streamlining the government's ability to identify and prevent cyber attacks.
McCaul gave the nod to the Senate for its quick action and in a release asked his “peers in the House to take action so more Americans won't have their personal information compromised and sensitive government information stolen.”
