HID has announced a strategic partnership with identity management firm Ory to create what they term the first "next-generation FIDO2-based enterprise identity platform" for the converged physical and digital era, Biometric Update reports. The collaboration aims to provide large, regulated enterprises with a unified credential for both physical entry, like building access, and digital resources such as VPNs, cloud applications, and legacy systems, all secured by phishing-resistant, passwordless FIDO2 authentication. Jeff Kukowski, CEO of Ory, stated the alliance lets "HID customers protect their accounts... with a proven industry leader and less logistical chaos," addressing identity as a prime attack vector.By integrating HID's established physical access ecosystem with Ory's infrastructure, which manages over two billion identities, the partnership seeks to reduce security overhead and introduce modular flexibility into enterprise credential management. The combined solution is positioned to set a new standard for modern identity infrastructure and is slated for release in the second quarter of 2026.
