Share

After serving as the deputy undersecretary for cyber security at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for close to a year and a half, Mark Weatherford has resigned.

Weatherford will become a principal at Washington, D.C.-based global security advisory firm, The Chertoff Group, founded by former DHS secretary, Michael Chertoff.

In an email to his colleagues, Weatherford said that upon accepting the newly-created position at DHS in 2011, he was “not disappointed” by the challenges he faced.

Bruce McConnell, senior counsel for cyber security, will serve as the acting deputy undersecretary when Weatherford leaves on April 12. Weatherford is scheduled to being his new post at the firm on May 1.
