The Cyber Express reports that Owen Flowers, 18, and Thalha Jubair, 19, who are reportedly members of the Scattered Spider threat gang, pleaded not guilty to charges linked to the August 2024 cyberattack on Transport for London.
The two were arrested in the UK in September and appeared at the Southwark Crown Court, where Sky News reported they "stood in the dock together and spoke only to confirm their names and enter not guilty pleas."
They are accused of conspiring to commit unauthorized acts that "caused, or created a significant risk of serious damage to human welfare." Both teens remain on remand. Flowers also faces charges involving unauthorized acts against SSM Health and attempted acts against Sutter Health. Jubair is accused of failing to provide PINs or passwords for seized devices and faces U.S. charges as well.
A trial is set for June 8, 2026. The attack caused 39 million in damage, disrupted online services for three months and exposed customer data. U.S. authorities said that the victims of Jubair's alleged intrusions paid at least $115 million in ransom.
