Google Threat Intelligence added to Cohesity data cloud 

Cohesity is enhancing its Data Cloud platform by deeply integrating Google Cloud's Threat Intelligence and Private Scanning capabilities directly into its user interface, reports Blocks & Files. 

This move aims to help customers detect hidden malware in backup data that could cause reinfection during recovery and reveal stealthy attacks. Cohesity's Chief Product Officer Vasu Murthy stated the integration provides "exceptional visibility and context into potential threats" without fragmenting workflows. Google's Private Scanning enables privacy-preserving analysis of files and URLs, allowing security and IT teams to assess suspicious items using the latest threat indicators from within Cohesity's central management system.

The integration is part of a broader, progressive partnership that has seen Cohesity expand its AI capabilities, data sovereignty features, and managed cybervault offering on Google Cloud. Competitors like Commvault and Rubrik also leverage Google Threat Intelligence, with Rubrik using daily feed updates for proactive threat identification. The new threat intelligence and secure sandbox analysis features are now generally available within the Cohesity Data Cloud, which consolidates services like DataProtect and FortKnox and is offered as a managed service or on certified platforms such as VMware and Nutanix.
