Tech Radar reports that a significant portion of FIFA World Cup partners are leaving themselves vulnerable to email spoofing and fraud due to inadequate email security measures, according to research by Proofpoint.

Proofpoint's analysis of 25 official FIFA World Cup partner domains revealed that 36% lack strong Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC) protections. While 96% have a DMARC record, only 64% enforce a strict "reject" policy, leaving the remaining domains susceptible to impersonation. This means over one-third of these partners are not actively blocking fraudulent emails that attempt to mimic their brand.

An additional 32% are operating in monitoring mode, which allows visibility but does not prevent spoofed emails from reaching recipients, potentially exposing fans, customers, and sponsors to scams and fraud.
