The FBI is actively seeking information from gamers who may have installed malware-infected games on the Steam platform. The investigation, led by the FBI's Seattle Division, focuses on eight malicious games uploaded to Steam between May 2024 and January 2026, aiming to identify individuals affected by cryptocurrency theft and account hijacks, with further coverage provided by Bleeping Computer.

The FBI's investigation centers on games including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse/DashFPS, Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova. These games were found to contain information-stealing malware designed to harvest credentials, cryptocurrency wallets, and sensitive data. In one notable case, the BlockBlasters game, after being updated with cryptodrainer malware, led to the theft of over $32,000 from a streamer's cryptocurrency wallet. Other affected games, like Chemia and PirateFi, distributed malware such as Vidar infostealer and Fickle Stealer, potentially impacting thousands of users.
