The economic crisis is poised to create a global meltdown in vital information. That conclusion, presented at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, is drawn from a survey commissioned by McAfee. Increased pressures to reduce spending and looming layoffs have led to porous defenses and increased motivation for crime, the company said. McAfee projected that data loss among companies reached more than $1 trillion last year. -- CAM
